The strong Fast bowling contingent of St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, received a further fillip with the appointment of Courtney Walsh as bowling coach. The proud owner of 519 Test scalps will guide the fortunes of this exciting unit, led by Rayad Emrit.
“I am extremely happy to be part of the SKNP family and looking ahead of the season with excitement. I am just grateful that the CPL is being played this season. Really looking forward to getting started with this exciting bunch,” said the former West Indies captain.
Local hero, Stuart Williams will handle the batting department. A fine stroke player in his heyday, Williams brings in a lot of experience and local knowledge to his job. With a few handy strikers both at the top and middle order, the former opener is all set to start with a bunch that is expected to punch well above its weight.
Mark O’Donnell completes the coaching set up. “It’s going to be a special tournament. The first T20 league on resumption so really looking forward to it,” noted the coach who has shaped T20 sides all over the world.
With the entire league to be staged in one place, O’Donnell opined that local players will have a huge role to play. “We have good quality in that department. Trinidad is a place where it rains a bit at times and it takes some experience to play well on that surface and I am sure we will do well.”
The New Zealander further added that St. Kitts has what it takes to win. “We have to start well without a doubt but what’s more important is we finish strongly. Making the playoffs is the primary target and we can take it from there,” concluded the confident coach.
